I Need a Tool

Okay, I need some help.  I’ll be working with teachers in Green Bay, WI next week discussing professional development and places to find it on the web.  Users will have time to explore some of the resources/sites I’ll be sharing.  I want them to share what they find and put together a brief explanation of it.  I’d like these to be submitted to one place so they can be shared back out.  I want this to be as easy as possible.

My thought was to create a Posterous blog/space and have users email their entries to the site.  Posterous will serve this purpose BUT I have each person’s email address entered so they have permission to post to the blog.  Again, this will work, and I have a way of collecting their email addresses, but I’m wondering if there’s an easier way.

Here’s where you come in.  I’m looking for something that will:

  • Allow anyone, without prior registration, to submit a link and brief subscription as easily as possible.  I’d like this to be done via email if possible.
  • All submissions will be collected in one space, with one URL that can be accessed by anyone, at any time.
  • The less set up for me ahead of time, the better.

I could create a Google Form and have people fill it out, but I’m not sure that’s better than the Posterous page.  Is that easier than simply writing an email?  I think the Posterous page will be easier to read and follow than a Google Spreadsheet.  As you can tell, I’m leaning in one direction, but certainly can be swayed if something better comes along.  Do you have an idea on something that will work?

For me I just use the Google spreadsheet for easy sharing with my co-workers. I am contented with this tool.

I prefer to use Google spreadsheet since I can share it to people I want. I can share the link I want as long as they have Google account.

Sounds like a wiki would be fine. My preference, however, would be a google form/ spreadsheet. You can only allow those with the link if you like. Then use goo.gl to shorten the link. Just make sure you have your sharing options set.

Part II: Depending on how many people, you could give each person with a page and the link to the resource to that page to leave them to "design" the page and post their brief description how they choose.

What about a wikispace where you set up each resource (depending on how many you have) on each page and you could set up an email account using the Student Email Creation process or a few student accounts that all could use and then they would have access to the site and the link could stand forever and ever!

You don't need email addresses for them to post. Open moderation allows anyone with the email to post. You have to moderate/approve but all they need is the email.
